Dr. Basaraba is a new member of Franklin County community and a practicing cardiologist at his clinic, Southern Tennessee Cardiology and Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester.
Dr. Basaraba was born in Romania and completed his medical education at University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Cluj, one of the best medical schools in the country. In 1996 he moved to the US and enrolled in Master of Public Health program at the University of South Carolina followed by residency in Internal Medicine at Yale University, Bridgeport Hospital, Connecticut and Fellowship in Cardiology at University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. Before establishing his own private practice in Winchester, TN Dr. Basaraba worked 7 years for a cardiology group in Lakeland, Florida.
Currently, Dr. Basaraba holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography. Also he is a member American College of Cardiology. His expertise is covering a wide range of cardiac care: diagnostic of cardiovascular disease, exercise EKG, peripheral vascular angiograms, pacemaker and defibrillator implants.
In his spare time he volunteers at the Free Clinic, delivers talks about heart disease, sponsors and actively participates in local sports, cultural and educational events.
Dr. Basaraba enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and scuba diving. Also, he is an avid runner already completing 28 marathon races throughout the country.
